“Broadband Light Therapy (BBL) and Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL)

Light Rejuvenation Therapy for Fine Facial Lines and Wrinkles, Acne Scars, Pigmentation, Prominent Blood Vessels, Hair Removal

 Downtime None

BBL and IPL use flashlamp technology and graduated filters to apply multiple wavelengths of light to the skin. Unlike some laser treatments which treat the surface skin, this is a gentler non- ablative treatment which can improve many problems deep in the skin without damaging the surface of the skin.

Intense light is targeted at the skin through a unique chilled sapphire crystal tip. By altering the intensity, wavelength, pulse frequency and duration and the level of cooling, the BBL/IPL can be used to:

  • Reduce areas of uneven pigmentation:

Light pulses are directed at “age spots”, freckles, flat pigmented birthmarks and other types of skin discolorations. Skin tissue melanin is heated up and destroyed resulting in the discoloration being removed.

  • Reduce fine facial lines, wrinkles and post acne scarring:

The treatment stimulates the lower layers of the skin to produce more collagen, which “plumps out” fine lines and wrinkles

  • Reduce prominent blood vessels in various parts of the body:

Light pulses are directed at spider, varicose veins and vascular birthmarks. Red pigment (hemoglobin) in the blood is heated up and destroyed.

  • Remove unwanted facial or body hair:

Light pulses are directed at the hair follicle to cause the hair to fall out and prevent future growth.

This procedure is done at the laser centre and has no downtime for the patient. Topical anaesthesia is used and the duration of the treatment depends on the size of the area to be treated.
