Surgery for Post-Cancer Breast Reconstruction

Downtime Varies according to the method used

The reconstruction of a patient’s breast after mastectomy of breast cancer is usually done as an immediate or delayed procedure. However, the best results are achieved when it is done as an immediate procedure at the time of the mastectomy. The various methods used are implants, latissimus dorsi flaps and TRAM flaps.

This procedure is done in the operating theatre under general anaesthesia. Downtime varies according to the method used.
