Surgery for Nasal Augmentation, Correction of Nasal Deformities
Downtime 7 – 10 days
Nose Surgery or Rhinoplasty is a procedure done to reshape the nose. This procedure can increase or reduce the size of the nose, change the shape of the nose or correct nasal deformities.
Nasal Augmentation is surgery done to make the nose more prominent. This surgery takes 1 hour. Under sedation or general anaesthesia, cuts are made inside the nostrils. A pocket is made for the implant and a silicone implant is placed inside underneath the skin. The cuts are stitched up and tapes are applied over the nose for 7 days. No hospital stay is usually required.
Corrective Rhinoplasties are done for patients who have deformities of the nose either from birth or as a result of an accident. These surgeries are more complex and some outside incisions are required. Bone and cartilage are then reshaped and the incisions repaired. These surgeries may require a 1-2 day hospital stay. In addition, the nose will be covered by a hard plaster to protect it from shifting.
This is procedure that is done in the operating theatre under local or general anaesthesia, depending on the extent of the procedure. There is 7 to 10 day downtime for the patient.
