Breast Augmentation Surgery
Breast augmentation is surgery to enlarge the breasts. It is done under general anaesthesia or sedation. Cuts are made either in the armpit or under the breast and a silicone or saline filled implant of appropriate size is inserted and positioned.
Who is Breast Augmentation Suitable For?
Breast augmentation is suitable for 2 kinds of patients. One group are patients who have small or hypoplastic breasts. The other group are those who have been through pregnancy and breastfeeding and have lost volume and perkiness in the breasts.
What Type of Results Should I Expect?
The breasts will be larger and natural in appearance. In the patients who have been through pregnancy, the increase in volume also results in the breasts being lifted and made more youthful.
How Will This Process Be Conducted at ARC?
We offer Mentor micro textured and Motiva nanotextured implants. The procedure takes 90 minutes to 2 hours and is done under general anesthesia or intravenous sedation. No hospital stay is required in most cases. A special bra and band needs to be worn for 7 days.
What Are Some Complementary Treatments?
Breast Augmentation with Fat Grafting
Breast augmentation can also be achieved using a natural filler material made from one’s own fat collections in the abdomen, thighs or buttocks. Known as fat grafting, this method is reserved for patients who need a moderate increase in breast size with good skin tone. They should have adequate fat collections for the proposed augmentation, about 2.5 to 3 times the proposed volume of fat to be injected into the breast.
The fat harvested is processed in a machine to thicken the aspirate. We use the Lipokit to select and concentrate younger fat cells before we inject them into the breast. This will ensure a longer lasting result. This procedure is done in an operating theater under intravenous sedation or a general anesthesia as a day surgery. It takes 90 minutes to 3 hours. Sometimes, repeat procedures are needed.
