Plastic Surgery For Reconstruction
Reconstruction of the pelvis is predominantly done when a major resection of a tumour is done in the area. This area contains outlets for the urogenital system and the gastrointestinal tract. The plastic surgeon’s role is to replace the lost tissue and keep the contents of the pelvis in the correct position. This is particularly important as poor support can lead to the formation of hernias.
Dr Khoo is specifically trained to use a variety of skin grafts, local flaps and distant flaps to reconstruct the structures of the pelvis. The reconstructions are sometimes reinforced with surgical meshes to support the contents of the pelvis.
Dr Andrew Khoo is a consultant plastic surgeon practicing at the Aesthetic & Reconstructive Centre in Singapore. He is dedicated to providing professional aesthetic care in a relaxed and private setting.
Aesthetic Surgeon Dr Khoo was awarded the Master of Medicine in Surgery in Singapore and obtained fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He received further training in craniofacial and aesthetic surgery during his time at the Institute of Craniofacial and Reconstructive Surgery in Southfield.
