Tailored Medical-Grade Cosmeceuticals
The use of medical grade cosmeceuticals is part and parcel of many of our treatment protocols. For example, we will usually advise our patients on basic skin care including sun protection, cleansers with mild exfoliants, high potency vitamin preparations and serums.
It is common for our patients to equate good skin care with using concentrated moisturizers that are designed for Caucasian skin in a temperate climate. These are not suitable for Asian skin types in 80-90 percent humidity.
In the treatment of pigmentation, we usually start off with prescribing a water-based sun protection of SPF50 and above and a customized lightening agent that we develop. This is then ordered from a compounding pharmacy. This allows us to individualize the agent for each specific patient. We continue the use of cosmeceuticals to enhance and maintain the effect of our treatments in the post-treatment period.
